I'm new to this message board. I live in Indiana so I won't be attending any meets in Houston I don't think -lol. I have Charlotte who is 9 years old. We lost Wilbur in 2005 and Zoomer in 2007. Both to liver failure/old age. Now Miss Charlotte is all alone and she seems so sad in her cage by herself, just sitting with her head down for many hours. She was resuced from a miserable abusive situation at a pet store when she was 11 months old with the help of another rescue group that I was a member at that time. I drove 13 hours to Charlotte, NC to get her, hence her namesake. She never tamed very well because she was already grown when I got her. She refuses to be picked up for more than a few seconds. She's terrified to be too far from her cage, although curiousity will get her and she'll carefully tiptoe around. I can't let her out much because we live in an old house that has holes in the walls and she's gone down in the wall (on several occasion) and I couldn't get her out. I had to bust out the basement ceiliing more than once to rescue her when she became entrapped between the drywall. Plus we have 4 dogs (of the canine type), they are scared of her for the most part, but I can't leave them all together unattended. Well I don't want to give her up, but there seems to be some real loving, knowledgeable people on this list. If you know someone who is experienced PD owner and in need of a companion, I would consider giving her up to let her have a PD family for the rest of her life. I just can't get another myself as explained I have 4 other dogs to take care of and the house just isn't suitable to let them out of the cage, so I feel bad she can't get out much because she won't be held neither, althouth she likes if you just reach and and rub her back for awhile. If anyone can direct me to a closer locality group for me, Indiana that'd be great too, or I can drive halfway or more to meet you if you have a suitable place. Mind you, I want pics and details about your PD experiences. I don't want to give her up to anyone. Wish you all well.
