A THANK YOU from Gena Seaburg and the Prairie Dogs

A resounding and heartfelt Yahoo! This yahoo is being delivered from the tips of the toes of every wild prairie dog that is now being saved from your selfless contributions of both time and money. Our economy is in rough shape and we were still able to pull enough resources to get the truck back on the road quickly. I can happily report that the truck is on the road now working on a project in the Midland, Texas area and is also being used to help the local flood victims in the Lubbock area. We couldn’t have done it without your support. THANK YOU!

Those of you that were able to squeeze your already tapped pocket books during this tough economic time, you know who you are, THANK YOU!!!

I personally feel very blessed to know that so many of my clients understand how hard it is for me to ask for help but that you respond so willingly the very rare times when I do, thank you. Please know that when making these requests that I only want the best for those prairie dogs that are both captivity and in the wild to flourish. There are many little idiosyncrasies or quirks when it comes to working with animals in both rescue and relocation over the long haul. Most people really cannot fathom the many nuances that it takes to be successful over many years for the benefit of the animal. Often when conferring with clients, be it a pet owner, zoo, vet, sanctuary, rescue, or conservation group, I don’t share much that is going on in the whole picture of what this animal brings to the world, its people, and how we are all so connected. Little acts do go a long way. I thank everyone that has helped me get to where I am now, I learn more each and every day through you and your animals. For me, there is no true expert as life is a continual journey that is never done until our final day.

There are numerous ways people can help prairie dogs. From those that right letters to aid conservation efforts and increase awareness, to those that educate others and make them see a prairie dog’s value, to those that contribute time and money, all are valuable. It isn’t just one or two people that make it happen. Their voice comes through you. Please keep up the great work you are all doing to help our friends survive a changing world.

Thank you for sharing your resources, time, and energy with me for the benefit of others. I hope to always provide you with free information that benefits you in some way. That I might add to your “information toolbox” that we will agree to learn and grow as time goes on to benefit all prairie dogs and those that love them because they are not just pet owners, there are many and we must all do our part to share them with the world. Even if it is at a zoo. If people never see them, they will forget. Let’s help zoos learn to show them right. If you need help, let me know, give me their contact information and I will get to work.

Again, for those both foreign and domestic who are looking to start an exhibit, add to an exhibit, start a rescue, or add to your current family; I will begin making a list in January for spring pups. Distribution will be based solely on those qualified organizations/people that have paid a deposit. There will not be any sitting in stores through me. I am happy to assist you with any aspect of their welfare from birth to death as I have done in the past at no charge. I will continue to work with vets too but if lecturing, some travel expenses and accommodations will be required.

For those interested, depending on our financial situation, I may host another prairie dog social next August. For those that have never attended a Prairie Dog Social we get together, eat good food, share information, resources, let our prairie dogs interact and eat healthful treats, and learn more about helping our friends live a long, healthy life. Everyone is welcome that RSVPs for the event. Notices will be sent out sometime next year around April or May if I think I can pull it off.

I am here for you and thank you from the bottom of my heart,

Gena Seaberg, PhD
Consultant for Prairie Dog Care Domestically and Abroad Since 1995
